Dancer to follower ESF coupling in the transmission gap

Technology: We use a double crosshair with 32 electrodes. The spacing is ~5 mm which allows us to image a single dancer and its follower in an area of 6 x 6 cm on the dance floor.

         ESF coupling between dancer and follower is clearly demonstrated

       using our high resolution double crosshair electrode grid.


First, the spatial resolution allows us to shape the emmitted field of a single dancing bee and, secondly, due to the fact that both following animals contain hemolymph we record the shape of the transmitted field from a follower at a distance of ~3 cm.
